Alpha Phi Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha represent the first predominately black greek letter organizations founded on colleges campuses and are informally known as the Phirst Pham (first family) of Black Greekdom.
The Virginia Chapters of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and the Virginia Association of Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated® (VACAPAF) are collaborating to promote citizen education and involvement in the legislative process.
We operate in a non-partisan way and are committed to addressing the issues that are most impactful in our communities.

*Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African American, college-educated women. Alpha Kappa Alpha has nearly 300,000 members of which more than 10,000 reside in the Mid-Atlantic Region, which encompasses the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state of North Carolina. **Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated ® is the first Greek-lettered organization established for African Americans. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. ®, has a membership of over 200,000, of which more than 18,000 reside in the Eastern District. The region encompasses seven districts comprising eleven states and the international areas of Bermuda, Germany, Liberia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom (London). One of the fraternity’s s objectives is to aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status.
